Born in Brooklyn New York and raised in New Jersey during the White Castle, American Bandstand and Beatles era, Marc graduated from Southern Illinois University with a degree in economics and a minor in psychology. After graduation, he was “invited” to join the United States Army Medical Corps and had the privilege of touring Vietnam for one year.
Marc spent summers during high school and college honing his interpersonal skills with various jobs in construction, Pulio’s Christmas tree factory (and sweat shop) in Newark New Jersey, tending bar at the Jersey Shore and hitch hiking with a friend from New Jersey to California.
Having spent 42 years as a hospital administrator, Marc has had the privilege of working with numerous departments and excellent dedicated healthcare professionals. During the latter part of his tenure, Marc’s focus was on physician recruitment and retention, practice management, hospital/physician alignment, strategic planning and physician coaching.
After retiring in 2010, Marc embarked on “act two” of his career and established his own
physician recruitment company, Advocate Physician Placement. Encouraged by of many of the healthcare professionals he came in contact with during his previous career, Marc also enrolled in the Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching (IPEC) one of the industry’s highest rated “life coach” training programs. Marc successfully completed the course and has achieved
designations of Certified Professional Coach and Energy Leadership Index Master Practitioner.
After completing his training, Marc founded Advocate Professional Coaching. “Our approach is to partner with individuals, groups and organizations to maximize human capital and achieve higher levels of success in business and life by reducing stress, improving communication skills and increasing awareness.
Marc’s most recent accomplishment was to become a Mindfulness trainer by studying the MindUp curriculum and by completing several courses offered by the Mindful Schools. “It seemed like a natural progression to investigate Mindfulness as a logical enhancement to professional coaching”.
Marc is an avid outdoorsman. He enjoys hiking, back packing and taking long walks with his rescue dog Faith. For many years he owned and operated Allison Hollow Ranch where he boarded and trained horses in addition to providing riding lessons and trail rides. Marc also enjoys sailing and is certified by the American Sailing Association. He and his wife of 49 years Dianne enjoy traveling and both are gourmet cooks.
Community service has always been a high priority for Marc. He has been involved with Big Brother Big Sister, United Way, American Cancer Society, Jacksonville Art Association, Jacksonville Symphony Society, Jacksonville Area Council for Independent Living, Salvation Army, Chamber of Commerce and Kiwanis. Marc has also spearheaded numerous very successful fundraisers for
several organizations as well as for his local hospital. Since 2010, Marc has volunteered at North School mentoring students from Kindergarten through 6th grades. With the shortage of substitute teachers in the district, Marc was asked to become a substitute teacher and in 2016, he became credentialed and now subs at North School as well as others in District #117.
